Copper
One of the most beautiful natural materials – copper – is man’s oldest metal, dating back more than 10 000 years. Copper is indestructible and one of the softest metals that evolve into a beautiful patina. It is also a lightweight metal, thus perfect for interiors or where weight restrictions would previously have been an issue.
Brass
Ductile, durable, and malleable alloy of copper (80 to 95 percent) and zinc dates to the late Bronze Age. It is a wonderfully versatile metal that has its own inherent beauty, which may be due in part to our natural attraction to the colour gold and the sun itself. Brushed brass was particularly popular during the Victorian and Edwardian eras and so became the standard metal and finish for household furniture, fittings, door and window furniture and the nascent car industry. Brass colour evokes timeless wealth, which pushes far beyond the trends of the moment.
Aluminium
One of the newest metals to be discovered by humans. It does not occur naturally in its purest form, so it was not discovered until the 19th century with developments in chemistry and the advent of electricity.
